Rangers and Hearts duo wanted by European giant as Celtic make €4m offer - Scottish transfers

Latest transfer news and speculation around the Scottish Premiership

Scotland are out of the World Cup and focus is starting to turn towards the start of the new domestic football season as the transfer rumour mill cranks up.

Here are the latest updates from Rangers, Hearts, Celtic and others...

Rangers and Hearts duo wanted by European giant

French giants Lyon could be eyeing a double raid on the Scottish Premiership.

The Ligue 1 side were last week credited with an interest in signing Hearts forward Claudio Braga.

Now, they are being heavily linked with a move for Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti.

According to a report in France, both players are on Lyon's transfer radar as they look to reinforce their attack following the return of loan star Endrick to Real Madrid.

Foot Mercato claim that Lyon have opened talks with Rangers over a move for Chermiti and will look to make an offer of less than €20million for the Portugal Under-21 international.

Hearts, meanwhile, would be looking for around €10million for their own Portuguese player of the year Braga.

Whether Lyon proceed with a move for both players - or favour one over the other - remains to be seen.

Celtic make move for goalkeeper

Celtic have reportedly made an offer for Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas.

The Croatian is set to leave the Spanish second tier side this summer and is also wanted by Olympiacos.

However, according to a report, Celtic are now favourites to land the 27-year-old after submitting a bid in the region of €4m.

The Scottish champions are in the market for a new shotstopper after former number one Kasper Schmeichel retired due to a shoulder injury.

Another goalkeeper is required to provide competition for Viljami Sinisalo, who stepped up to take the gloves in the second half of last season.

Horkas was capped by Croatia at youth level up to Under-21s, but has never played for the senior national side.

Meanwhile, Reo Hatate has joined countryman Daizen Maeda in expressing a desire to leave Celtic.

Speaking to Japanese media outlet FERGUS, the midfielder made it clear that he feels ready to transition to a higher level of football after four and a half years at Parkhead, stating: "I would like to challenge myself in one of the top five leagues.”

Scotland U21 moves to England

Stoke City have completed the signing of Scotland Under-21s defender Luke Graham from Dundee.

Graham, 22, joins the Potters on a four-year contract in what Dundee said was an undisclosed club record selling fee, reported to be in the region of £2million plus add-ons.

“I’ve known of the interest for a little while now and to get it over the line is amazing,” Graham, who becomes Stoke’s fifth summer addition, said on the club website.

“I felt like this was the perfect place for the next step in my career and, having seen a few big signings arrive already, I just want to add to that.”

Stoke sporting director Jonathan Walters feels Graham can go on to deliver his potential.

“We believe Luke has all the ingredients to have a very successful career and we are excited to see him continue his journey with us,” Walters said.

Reflecting on his time at Dens Park, Graham added: “Dundee has been massive for me. I wouldn’t be sat here if it wasn’t for Dundee taking a chance on me as a young kid coming through the academy.

“I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone around the club, all the supporters, all the team-mates and everyone I’ve worked with. I’ve made a lot of really good friends along the way that I’ll stay in touch with.”

Key defender departs Saints

St Mirren have sold influential defender Miguel Freckleton to Austrian champions LASK.

Saints have secured what they described as “an undisclosed fee with significant future add-ons and a sell-on clause” for the 22-year-old, who made 47 appearances last term after joining from Sheffield United last summer.

Freckleton was a key member of the team that won the Premier Sports Cup in December.

“With a year remaining on his Saints deal, Miguel made clear his desire to take on a new challenge with the Austrian champions,” read a statement from the William Hill Premiership club.

“We sincerely thank Miguel for his contributions. He departs with the best wishes of everyone at St Mirren Football Club.”
