Steve Clarke has some key decisions to make as Scotland bid to make World Cup history against Brazil in Miami on Wednesday.
Avoid defeat to the six-time champions in their final Group C fixture, then Scotland are all but guaranteed to progress to the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time in history.
A narrow defeat may even be enough, providing enough results in other 12 groups fall favourably. An extended format means that the eight teams with the best record who finish third in their group also qualify for the round of 32 alongside those who finish first and second.
Clarke’s team selection and tactics will be crucial if Scotland are to achieve a momentous result against a Brazil side boasting some of the world’s top stars such as Real Madrid wingers Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo.
After starting with two strikers for the 1-0 win over Haiti, Clarke reverted to one up front for the 1-0 defeat by Morocco. A conservative approach is again likely, but we would like to see a few more attack-minded choices in a 4-2-3-1 system.

9. AMC: Scott McTominay
Hasn't lit up the World Cup as yet but has often been too deep in the pitch to make the kind of impact he does for Napoli in the final third. Steve Clarke must deploy him behind the striker and let him make runs beyond. | AFP via Getty Images

10. AML: John McGinn
Another who has not quite hit top form yet at the tournament despite scoring Scotland's deflected winner against Haiti. Scotland will need him to have an impactful game if they are to take anything from Brazil. | Getty Images

11. CF: Lawrence Shankland
Scotland may only get one or two chances against Brazil, and Shankland gives them their best hope of converting one. Che Adams has worked hard across the opening two games but time for a new plan of attack.
