Scotland’s date with destiny is almost here, with the squad for November’s crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures against Greece and Denmark set to be named on Monday.
Currently sitting level with Denmark on 10 points at the top of qualification Group C, head coach Steve Clarke has a golden opportunity to end Scotland’s near three-decade wait to qualify for the World Cup.
Should the national team navigate a clear path to next summer’s tournament in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, he would also become the first manager in the history of Scotland to take the nation to three major tournaments during his tenure. History awaits.
In the past, Clarke has shown he is not afraid to introduce new faces into the squad, as youngsters Ben Gannon-Doak, Lennon Miller, and Kieron Bowie can attest. While international recalls are also not out of the question, should he feel they are deserved.
But which other Scottish stars have performed well enough to put their name in the frame for Scotland call-ups when the squad gets announced on November 3?
The Scotsman looks at 11 players who Clarke could add to his squad for the mammoth qualifying games against Greece and Denmark in November.

5. Andy Irving - West Ham United
Certainly not a stranger to the Scotland squad, the ex-Hearts midfielder picked up his first cap against Liechtenstein in June, but has yet to feature in the World Cup qualification campaign. Has started West Ham's last two league games under Nuno Espirito Santos, and has tallied an impressive 90.1% passing accuracy rate, coupled with an 85.7% long passing accuracy. 6. Robbie Ure - IK Sirius
While much of the chat will revolve around whether Lawrence Shankland should return to the squad, the ex-Rangers youngster's stats have been surprisingly ignored. Still just 21-year-old, the imposing striker has enjoyed a mightily impressive debut season in the Swedish top flight, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further four. | BELGA MAG/AFP via Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

7. Stuart Findlay - Hearts
Capped in Steve Clarke's first game as Scotland manager back in 2019, the former Kilmarnock centre-back has been a huge signing for table-topping Hearts after arriving on loan from Oxford United. Like teammate Halkett, he's been a threat in the opposition box this season with three goals from defence, while he has also helped create eight chances from the back. He's been defensively excellent too, winning 69% of his aerial duels and making 39 recoveries. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

8. Ross McCrorie - Bristol City
The former Rangers academy star is going under the radar a little at Bristol City, despite putting some really impressive numbers on the board in recent weeks. Originally a defender, McCrorie has flourished as an attacking wing-back for the Robins, and has already registered four goal contributions in the club's opening 12 games.
