Sebastien Pocognoli's second match as Scotland head coach ended in disappointment as Switzerland comfortably prevailed 3-0 at Hampden in a Nations League B1 encounter.
The Scots faced an uphill battle from very early on after centre-half Jack Hendry was dismissed after eight minutes for bringing down Dan Ndoye and denying the Swiss winger an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
Ricardo Rodriguez scored from the resultant free-kick - a penalty was originally awarded but downgraded by VAR - and the Swiss rarely needed to get out of neutral, let alone first gear as Scotland were left chasing shadows.
Switzerland defender Nico Elvedi added a second on 55 minutes when he stole in ahead of Oli McBurnie to net an Ndoye cross and then Zeki Amdouni completed the scoring with a powerful effort beyond Scotland keeper Angus Gunn.
Scotland failed to trouble Swiss keeper Gregor Kobel and are now four games without a goal, with Pocognoli's next two matches against North Macedonia on Saturday in Skopje before welcoming Slovenia to Glasgow on Tuesday.
We give each player a mark out of ten for their performance at Hampden:

9. John McGinn
Started the game by sitting on Switzerland's deep-lying playmaker Jashari but had to be more withdrawn after Hendry's red card. A thankless night in midfield, Moves level with Jim Leighton on 91 caps - joint third in the standings. 5 | PA

10. Oli McBurnie
Had the unenviable task of leading the line for Scotland alone after Hendry's red card. Showed some nice touches and was able to run at the Swiss backline on a couple of occasions. Went down too easily under a challenge from Rodriguez at the edge of the penalty box and was caught out by Elvedi's run for the crucial Swiss second goal. His wait for his own strike in Scotland colours goes on. Replaced by Ure. 6 | PA

11. Kieron Bowie
This was his first start for Scotland - and much deserved after evolving his game in Serie A with Verona and now Sassuolo. Unfortunately for the ex-Hibs striker, it only last ten minutes, hooked for Welsh after Hendry's red card. It is to Bowie's credit that while disappointed, he did not leave the pitch in any kind of strop. n/a | PA

12. Stephen Welsh
Given a surprise summoning following Hendry's red card. Tried to keep the door shut and was resolute until Scotland tired and the game became stretched. Booked on 74 minutes after being skinned by Amdouni. 5 | SNS Group
