Scotland Euro 2024 star close to EPL move with club confident transfer 'will be done soon'
The Scotland ace is set to switch sides this summer
Scotland striker Che Adams looks set to depart Southampton with two clubs club battling for his signature ahead of Euro 2024.
The 27-year-old Saints forward recently helped Russell Martin’s team return to the English top tier at the first time of asking, appearing off the substitutes bench in his side’s 1-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Adams has been named as part of Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for this summer’s European Championships on the back of an excellent season with his club, where he scored 16 league goals, but is currently caught in a transfer tussle between two sides with his contract expiring at St Mary’s this month.
It had been thought that Wolverhampton Wanderers had won the race for the ex-Birmingham City striker in recent weeks following a report from French journalist Jacque Talbot in May. The report claimed talks between the striker’s representatives and Wolves were ‘progressing positively’ and that the Midlands outfit were confident Adams would bring an end to his five-year association with the Saints to sign for Gary O’Neil’s side.
However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, it is now Nottingham Forest that have moved ahead of Wolves in the race for his signature. “Nottingham Forest currently ahead of Wolves for Che Adams,” Romano wrote on his official ‘X’ page, before confirming they offered the Scotland man an “improved proposal” in order to seal the move. The Italian also said he believes Forest are confident the deal will be “done soon” and are “waiting to seal the agreement.”
