Former Rangers youngster has big moment on first La Liga appearance
Scottish striker Robbie Ure enjoyed a dream debut for Sevilla as he stepped off the bench to help his new side come from behind to win the opening match of the La Liga season.
Ure, signed during the week from Swedish Sirius for an initial €6.5million which could rise to €9m, was introduced at half-time with visitors Rayo Vallecano leading 1-0 thanks Álvaro García's fourth minute opener.
The 22-year-old former Rangers youngster struggled for service during his 45-minute cameo but endeared himself to the home fans at the Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium with his work-rate and movement.

Jon Guridi brought Sevilla level from the penalty spot seven minutes after the break, but the chance for a comeback win appeared to vanish when the home side lost Kike Salas to a red card in the 88th minute.
However, step forward Ure who won his side a penalty in the 94th minute after having his foot clipped by a Vallecano defender as he took a touch inside to create space for a shot on goal. Peque Fernández converted the spot kick to clinch three points for Sevilla.
Sevilla head coach Luis García Plaza hailed the impact of his new Scottish import. "Robbie was very good," he said. "He gave us what we asked of him . He gave us a lot."
Spanish journalists were also impressed with the impact made by Ure.
A report in Diario AS, one of Spain's leading daily sports newspapers, stated: "Some signings hit the ground running at their new clubs, and all signs point to that being the case for Robbie Ure. The Scot made a name for himself on his Sevilla debut, winning the penalty and showcasing a handful of impressive plays as his calling card.
"He's much more than a classic number nine, and the Sánchez-Pizjuán crowd recognized this the moment the number 9 appeared on the board at the start of the second half. Sevilla fans embraced Ure, and the initial impression is that signing him was the right move."
Journalist Jonay Amaro from Offsider wrote on X: "It's been a couple of moments, but Robbie Ure's second half has been that of a gladiator who has won over the Sánchez Pizjuán. The Scotsman, alongside Peque, have changed the face of a Sevilla that was down for the count in the first half. The Scotsman's mobility has been brutal."
Ure has represented Scotland up to Under-21 level but has yet to receive a call-up to the senior national side.
Sebastien Pocognoli, the former Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco head coach, is set to become the new Scotland head coach this week and will be expected to include Ure in his maiden squad for the Nations League matches against Slovenia and Switzerland next month.
