Scottish Premiership action has taken a back seat this week, with Scotland’s return to action in the Nations League taking centre stage under new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli.
Despite drawing 0-0 in their opening game away to Slovenia, a strong second-half display has given Scotland something to build on as they look ahead to games against Switzerland and North Macedonia this week.
Several fresh faces have been included in Pocognoli’s inaugural squad, with Robbie Ure and Stephen Welsh making their international debuts in Ljubljana at the weekend. Meanwhile, the uncapped quartet of Luis Binks, Josh McPake, Luke Graham and Kristi Montgomery occupied places on the bench.
However, with the Scotland squad getting a fresh lick of paint, we decided to look back at international players of the past to ask ‘where are they now?’, and several of them are filling up the free agent list.
But which former Scotland men are available on a free transfer two months into the season? Here are 8 Scotland internatonal still searching for new clubs this season.

Capped once by Scotland in 2016, an impressive spell at Hearts saw him touted for a second call-up just five years later, only for his form to deteriorate as injury took hold. 6. John Fleck
Capped five times by Scotland, the former Rangers man achieved promotion with Coventry City and Sheffield United after leaving Ibrox. Most recently, he played for Chesterfield Town, but during the pre-match warm-up against Doncaster Rovers, he collapsed due to what was described as a "fit of some sort." He recovered, but his availability was impacted due to his health issue. He was released in the summer and is still a free agent. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
