Scotland return to action for the first time since their group-stage exit from the World Cup this month as new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli gets his reign underway in the Nations League.
A difficult summer saw long-serving boss Steve Clarke step down from his position following Scotland’s elimination from the World Cup in June, where he was later replaced by the Belgian, whose first task is to pick up points from the country’s opening Nations League game against Slovenia on September 26.
Clashes against Switzerland and North Macedonia also beckon as Scotland enters a new era under Pocognoli, and many are asking which players will be cut from the squad that travelled to the United States this summer as the 39-year-old reveals his inaugural squad at Hampden Park next week.
But whose squad place is in doubt under the new boss? Which players will drop out of the reckoning, and be replaced by new names and fresh faces?
Ahead of the games with Slovenia, Switzerland and North Macedonia over the next few weeks, we look at which 11 players could miss out on Scotland call-ups in Pocognoli’s first squad.
