Aaron Hickey made an impressive Serie A debut for Bologna against Parma and now joins a small, but growing, band of Scots footballers who are currently plying their trade in Europe.
At 18, the former Hearts left back has followed in the footsteps of several teenage countrymen who have upped sticks at a young age in order to pursue a career on the continent.
Here are some of the Scots footballers in Europe to keep an eye on this season ...

10. Frank Ross - Go Ahead Eagles
Released by Aberdeen at the end of last season, the 22-year-old winger moved to Dutch second tier side Go Ahead Eagles. Scored one goal for the Dons but it was a memorable one - a stunning free-kick against Rangers in 2017 Photo: SNS Group Alan Harvey

11. David Bates - Cercle Brugge (loan)

12. Jack Hendry - Oostende (loan)
