New Hibs signing sets bold target to be top scorer in Scottish Premiership
20 y/o striker sets target after arriving on loan from Stoke City
Nathan Lowe has targeted becoming the Scottish Premiership’s top goalscorer after joining Hibs on loan from Stoke.
The 20-year-old England youth international has scored 29 goals over the past two seasons in loan spells with Walsall, Stockport and Wycombe and has also netted twice in 27 first-team appearances for Stoke.
The marksman becomes head coach David Gray’s fourth signing of the summer, all from the English lower leagues, following the arrivals of midfielders Azeem Abdulai and Call Wright, and defender Jason Kerr.

Lowe told Hibs TV: “Every season I go into, my aim is to be the top goalscorer in the league. And sometimes it’s paid off.
“I always believe in setting yourself high targets. And if you fall short, you fall short. But I want to be the top goalscorer in the SPFL this season.
“One thing about me is that, say whatever you want about me, but I will be in the area to score the goals, because that’s just the only reason I play football, is to score goals.
“And that’s what gets me up every morning to go and train. I don’t think I could be a right-back, a left-back or anything like that. I was born to be a striker.
“And hopefully I can add to my tally significantly here.”
Lowe added: “I’ve been around the EFL so that’s why I thought it would be a good challenge and a new challenge that I’m excited about, playing in the SPFL.
“Hearing everyone talk about it, then going off and doing my own research, it was a bit more of a no-brainer.
“Scottish football has this massive buzz around it, especially from the fans and from just everyone surrounding the football club, it’s just so important.
Hibs head coach David Gray added: “We have been looking to add a player with his attributes to the squad, and he brings a great energy and enthusiasm about his play, as well as a physical presence.
“He is a natural goalscorer, and he has proven that he can score a range of different types of goals.
“He has good experience too, having already played a substantial amount of games at a competitive level despite his young age.”
