Hibs exit confirmed as Marink Reedijk arrival signals departure of key figure

Potter returned to the club in June, replacing long-serving assistant Eddie May, before stepping up to take charge of the first-team on an interim basis following the sacking of David Gray last week.

The former Kelty Hearts boss oversaw the 1-1 draw against Aberdeen on Saturday that halted a run of six straight home defeats but has now severed ties with the club less than 24 hours after the arrival of Reedijk.

Potter previously served Hibs as assistant manager to Jack Ross for two years before the pair were sacked in December 2021.

Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay said: “We’re very grateful to John for his dedication and hard work during his time at the Club, and the professionalism and commitment during this transitional period.

“John stepped up and led the Club for our last match against Aberdeen, and everyone wishes him the very best for the future.”

Reedijk, who has signed a three-year contract, will be assisted by fellow Dutchman Rogier Molhoek at Easter Road.

Molhoek, 45, a former midfielder who spent his entire playing career in the Netherlands, worked under Reedijk at SK Beveren, with the pair guiding the club to an undefeated title-winning season in the Belgian second tier last term.

He was previously assistant coach at NAC Breda having worked his way up from coaching the academy sides. Molhoek, a former Netherlands Under-21 international, was forced to retire from playing aged 31 due to an ankle issue.
