For the second time in just four months, the Hibs hierarchy are searching for a new manager after the sudden dismissal of Shaun Maloney on Monday morning. The 39-year-old lasted merely 19 games in the hot seat at Easter Road before club chairman Ron Gordon decided to part ways with the former Celtic player, saying he had hoped the appointment of a “young, highly regarded coach” would help take Hibs forward but conceded that simply “it didn't work out.”
Former captain and cup final hero David Gray has been placed in temporary charge of the club, while Ross County boss Malky Mackay has been installed as the early front runner for the vacancy. However, it is possible that the club hierarchy could cast their net further afield in their search for the next boss.
It is understood that the club are looking for a boss who has youth on his side, plays an attacking brand of football and, crucially, has managerial experience.
Here we look at 10 out-of-work bosses who don’t feature high up in the betting but may well fit the profile.

5. Daniel Farke
The former Norwich City manager built up a reputation for attacking, possession based football and, despite his dismissal late last year, still holds an excellent reputation throughout Europe. Could Hibs convince him to move to the Scottish Premiership? Photo: Marc Atkins

6. Marc Bircham
Former Waterford United manager and Queens Park Rangers first team coach Marc Bircham would definitely be a left field appointment, however, he has build up a reputation as a good coach, particularly Stateside, where he took the number two role at Chicago Fire and Arizona United. With Gordon's obvious links to America, could Bircham be an outside candidate worth looking at? Photo: Dan Mullan

7. Garry Monk
Once seen as one of the brightest young managerial talents in England, Garry Monk has seen his reputation take a hit over the past few years and has been out of work since his sacking at Sheffield Wednesday in 2020. Despite that, Monk is still well renowned for playing an attractive brand of football that is easy on the eye and, after a spell out of the game, could return with renewed vigour ready to prove his doubters wrong. 8. Massimo Ficcadenti
Vastly experienced Italian Massimo Ficcadenti has been working in Japan over the last eight years after spells in Verona and Reggina. Could Hibs follow Celtic's lead in appointing a J-League manager?
