In celebration of Hearts’ 150th year, the Gorgie outfit are set to welcome English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur to Tynecastle for a glamour friendly on this evening.
It will be the first time the sides have met for 13 years, when the two sides were drawn against each other in the UEFA Europa League. It was a tie which Spurs won 5-0 on aggregate, thanks to a first-leg demolition in Edinburgh.
Goals from Rafeal Van der Vaart, Jermain Defoe and Jake Livermore put the visitors into a commanding lead after just 30 minutes before strikes from Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon ensured the North London side would qualify for the next stage with consummate ease. Hearts would perform admirably in the second leg, drawing 0-0 at White Hart Lane - but the damage was already done by that stage.
While the 2011/2012 season started with the this heavy defeat, it would end in glory for Hearts as they lifted the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park, defeating rivals Hibs 5-1 at the home of Scottish football.

14. Jake Livermore - Spurs
Now 34, Livermore plays in the EFL Championship for Watford, where he joined after seven seasons with West Bromwich Albion. Capped seven times by England, he started the 2-2 draw with Scotland at Hampden Park in 2017. | SNS Group 0141 221 3602

15. David Templeton - Hearts
Like Ian Black, the highly-rated forward made a controversial move to Rangers for a reported fee of £700,000 a year later. However, his spell at Ibrox was blighted by form and injury and he later joined Hamilton and Burton Albion before retiring in 2021. He came out of retirement a year later to sign for Drumchapel United. He has remained with the club ever since and agreed a new deal last month. | SNS Group 0141 221 3602

16. Niko Kranjcar - Spurs
A real talent in midfield, the Croatian left Spurs in 2012 to sign for Dynamo Kiev before moving to Queens Park Rangers and New York Cosmos. He actually ended his career in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers, though he struggled with injury before retiring in 2018. He is currently the assistant manager of the Croatia under-19 team. | Getty Images
