Hearts monitor situation as US-Iran conflict puts Dubai trip under threat

Air strikes in Middle East place warm-weather training camp in doubt

Hearts appear set to cancel next week’s warm weather camp in Dubai following retaliatory Iran air strikes on targets in the Middle East.

The league leaders had planned to fly out on Monday for five days of training in more clement weather than has been forecast for Edinburgh.

Manager Derek McInnes had explained that he could “only see the positives” in escaping Scotland to give the training pitches a rest and “get a bit of sun on the backs and be about each other” as the Tynecastle side bid to win their first Scottish championship title since 1960.

However, the news this morning that the United States and Israel have launched joint attacks across Iran has necessitated a quick re-think.

Hearts are in discussions with their travel agents and are “monitoring the situation".

McInnes is expected to speak about the options after Saturday afternoon’s game against Aberdeen at Tynecastle.

Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson is in attendance as the hosts looks to stretch their lead at the top of the Premiership to seven points from second placed Rangers, who play Celtic on Sunday.
