Celtic interim manager Martin O’Neill will hope to roll back the years as he takes his side to Hampden Park to face fierce rivals Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final on Sunday.
Over 20 years since the Northern Irishman last managed Celtic in an Old Firm derby, the 73-year-old will be hoping for a similar result to the one he experienced way back on April 24, 2005, when goals from Stiliyan Petrov and Craig Bellamy secured a 2-1 win at Ibrox during the 2004/25 campaign.
As you’d expect, none of the Celtic team from that day will join O’Neill in representing the Glasgow giants on Sunday, with this weekend’s XI set to be full of more modern-day stars.
But what did O’Neill’s line-up look like the last time he was in the dugout for a game against Rangers - and where are they now?

9. Chris Sutton
One of the best Celtic forwards in recent times, the ex-Chelsea striker helped the Hoops win three titles, three Scottish Cups, and one Scottish League Cup, as well as reaching the UEFA Cup final. Left in 2005 to sign for Birmingham City, before he controversially moved across the city to link up with his former Celtic boss O'Neill at Aston Villa, though he played just five games in claret and blue. After a less than successful spell as manager of Lincoln City, Sutton moved into media work and has been a regular pundit and commentator for Sky Sports for many years. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

10. Craig Bellamy
The former Celtic forward is reportedly one of the names in the frame to take over from O'Neill permanently. Won the Scottish Cup in 2005 after arriving on loan from Newcastle United, but returned to England that summer to sign for Blackburn Rovers. A regular goal-scorer in the English top flight, the diminutive hitman represented Liverpool, West Ham United, and Manchester City before opting to end his career at hometown club Cardiff City. Has enjoyed a successful coaching career since his retirement, taking on role with Cardiff, Anderlecht, and Burnley, before being named the Wales national team manager in July 2024, where he still remains. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

11. Subs: John Hartson
Scorer of almost 150 Celtic goals, Hartson is well remembered at Parkhead for his trophy-laden spell at the club between 2001 and 2006. Had short spells with West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City following his departure from the club, before retiring in 2008. Since retirement, the popular Welsh forward has gone into motivational speaking, and works with a recovery and addiction charity he co-founded, focusing on mental health and addiction support. He has also established the foundation to raise awareness for testicular cancer after his own battle with the disease in 2009. The 50-year-old is also frequently seen as a pundit on TNT Sports and Sky Sports. | SNS Group 0141 221 3602 Photo: SNS Group

12. Subs: Craig Beattie
The Celtic youth product left the club to sign for West Bromwich Albion two years after this game, and went on to have a nomadic career, which resulted in him representing a grand total of 16 clubs before his retirement in 2019 at Elgin City. Won the Scottish Cup with Hearts in 2011, and the Scottish Championship with Dundee in 2014. Capped seven times by the Scotland national team, Beattie took on an administrative role as Members Services Officer at the footballers' union PFA Scotland in 2021, where he still remains. | SNS Group 0141 221 3602 Photo: SNS Group
