Celtic’s summer transfer window saw the club wave goodbye to several key players as the club looked ahead to a new era under veteran boss Martin O’Neill.
Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Arne Engels all left in big-money moves, while fringe men Stephen Welsh, Paulo Bernardo and Maik Nawrocki all departed for pastures new as Celtic’s new-look squad took shape ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
It started perfectly, with new signings Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh helping the side record six successive league wins. However, a damaging loss to LASK in the Champions League playoffs, followed by back-to-back defeats against Rangers, has turned the mood sour at Parkhead in recent weeks. But what has happened to those that have left?
Here we look at the 15 Celtic players who moved away from the club before the start of the new campaign, and assess how they have done for their new teams in the opening months of the season. Who has found success away from Parkhead - and who regrets their decision to leave?

5. Daizen Maeda - Ipswich Town
A Celtic cult hero, he won 10 major honours during his time at the club, scoring 79 goals in the process. Completed an £8.5million move to English Premier League side Ipswich in the summer, but is yet to make a real impression at Portman Road. He last started against Liverpool on September 4, and hasn't scored or assisted in his 262 minutes on the pitch. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

6. Michel-Ange Balikwisha - Gent (loan)
A major flop, he made just seven league appearances for Celtic after arriving for £5million from Royal Antwerp. Not in the club's plan this season, he returned to Belgium on loan and has performed fairly well in his three appearances at the Planet Group Arena. However, he is yet to find the net for his new club. | Belga/AFP via Getty Images Photo: Belga/AFP via Getty Images

7. Reo Hatate - Burnley
A major part of Celtic's title-winning teams in seasons past, Hatate completely fell out of favour in the second half of last season and expressed a desire to leave the club in May. He's only four games into his Turf Moor career, but things haven't gone too well so far, with the side bottom of the EFL Championship after failing to win any of their first eight league games. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

8. Maik Nawrocki - Lens
After impressing on loan with Hannover 96 last season, Nawrocki featured in Celtic's defeat to Sporting Lisbon in pre-season. However, with first-team opportunities at a premium, the club accepted an offer from RC Lens to allow him to leave permanently. Sadly for the centre-back, he suffered an ACL injury just weeks into his time with the club, and it is expected to keep him out until the end of the season. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
