Celtic hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League hang in the balance after losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their playoff tie at Celtic Park.
An electric atmosphere welcomed the two teams on to the pitch just before 8pm, and the roof almost came off when the home fans thought they had a shock first minute lead via Nicolas Kuhn, whose shot was deflected into the net to send the crowd into raptures, only for it to be chalked off due to Adam Idah being in an offside position
Bayern Munich’s game of death by possession finally paid off on the stroke of half-time via a thunderous Michael Olise goal, before Harry Kane’s acrobatic finish doubled their lead on 49 minutes. However, a late goal from Daizen Maeda handed Celtic a glimmer of hope with when he scrambled over the line on 80 minutes.
The teams will meet again at the Allianz Arena in Munich for the second-leg next Tuesday.
Here is how The Scotsman rated each player out of 10 for their display at Celtic Park:

1. GK: Kasper Schmeichel - 7
Little he could do about Olise's thunderbolt or Kane's volley, but pulled off a good save from the Frenchman early on, and produced an even better one from Kane before the opener. Showed his big game experience in important moments. | SNS Group

2. Alistair Johnston - 6
Helped released Kuhn when the opportunity arose a couple of times in the first-half and tried his best against a continuous onslaught of attacks. Went perilously close to equalising in injury time with an angled drive. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

3. Cameron Carter-Vickers - 5
Up against his former teammate in Harry Kane, and couldn't stop him bagging the all important second goal. | PA Photo: PA

4. Auston Trusty - 5
Struggled with the Bayern and power of Bayern's attack all night. Didn't look comfortable. | PA Photo: PA
