Celtic star in shock link
Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is reportedly attracting interest from the Bundesliga. The Belgian arrived at Parkhead from the German top flight in August 2024 after completing a club record £11m transfer from Augsburg. The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals and registered 18 assists across 85 appearances for the Hoops and his form has placed him on the radar of RB Leipzig, according to Sky Germany.

The report claims that both Engels and AC Milan's Ardon Jashari are considered potential targets if a deal for Borussia Mochengladbach's Rocco Reitz cannot be agreed. Leipzig are said to be in the market for a midfielder as they prepare for the possible departure of Xaver Schlager, who is wanted by Juventus ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.
The focus for Celtic is on adding to the squad in the January window with reports in France claiming that a loan bid has been submitted for FC Lorient striker Mohamed Bamba is the subject of a loan bid from Celtic including an option to buy the 24-year-old Ivorian in the summer. Celtic have also been linked with Chelsea front man David Datro Fofana, who has been recalled from his loan at Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk with a view to being sold this month.
Rangers prospect departs
Burnley have completed the signing of 18-year-old Cameron Scott from Rangers. Primarily a left-back, who can also play centre-back and left back, has signed an 18-month contract with the Clarets and will immediately link up with their Under-21 side.
“It’s a great feeling to be here,” Scott said. “When you’re younger you always want to be at the top clubs and being at a Premier League club like Burnley was really attractive to me. There are quite a few Scottish lads around the building too, including Ellis [Clark] who I played against for years and Muzz [Murray Campbell] who is from the same area as me. I really enjoyed my two weeks here, the set up’s really good and the training ground’s phenomenal so it was a no brainer.”

Scott, who has a South African mother, has been capped by Scotland at Under-16 and Under-17 level. While his mother pushed him to play rugby as a youngster, he fell in love with football on a family holiday and subsequently joined Rangers at the age of nine, progressing right through the age groups to sign his first professional contract when 16.
Academy manager Chris Casper added: “Cameron is a strong addition to our U21s group ahead of the second half of the season. He impressed with his attitude and technical ability on trial and with the physical profile to match, I look forward to seeing him fulfil his potential with us.”
Dons eye loan Ranger
Aberdeen have been linked with a move for Queen’s Park Rangers defender Liam Morrison. The former Celtic and Bayern Munich youth has dropped out of the first-team at Loftus Road in recent months and, according to reports, the Dons are exploring a possible loan deal for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old has 25 Scotland youth caps up to and including Under-21 level but will need to be playing regularly to have any chance of forcing his way into Steve Clarke's World Cup plans this summer. Aberdeen are in the market for a central defender after cutting short Alfie Dorrington’s loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Hibs exit confirmed
Charlton have recalled Zach Mitchell from his loan spell at Hibernian after the defender struggled for game time at Easter Road. The 21-year-old joined Hibs last September but has made only two appearances, against Dundee United and Kilmarnock in the William Hill Premiership. Hibs’ head coach David Gray said: “I’d like to thank Zach for the way he has conducted himself around the club and for all his hard work. We’ve had a lot of competition for places in his position, and he had to be patient for his opportunities. Zach is a young player who wants to play games, which we completely understand, so it makes sense for him to return to Charlton Athletic as it’s not something we can guarantee. He was a model professional during his time here, fantastic to work with, always keen to learn, and I wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”
6ft 3in striker signs for ‘Well
Eythor Bjorgolfsson revealed his excitement after becoming Motherwell’s first signing of 2026. The 25-year-old Norwegian striker joined the Steelmen on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Swedish side Umea, where he scored 15 goals across 29 appearances.
“I’m thrilled to be in Scotland and at Motherwell,” said Bjorgolfsson, whose move is subject to international clearance. Having watched the previous games, the way the team are playing is something I’m excited to be involved in. There has been so much success here so far this season, and hopefully I can make a quick impact."
Well boss Jens Berthel Askou added: “Eythor’s profile has been identified by our recruitment department as a strong match for us. Watching him extensively, getting really good recommendations through our network in Scandinavia and looking at his standout data, we strongly believe that Eythor will be a valuable and strong addition to the team. He’s taken a different route than most younger Scandinavian talents, but his determination, resilience and steady development have led him to an exciting time in his career.”
