Bob MacIntyre confirms Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title defence
Oban man describes St Andrews as ‘golf heaven’ ahead of his return for DP World Tour event in October
Bob MacIntyre, the first Scot to claim the prize in 20 years, has confirmed his title defence in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship later this year.
In a weather-reduced event last year, the Oban man recorded a four-shot victory after signing off with a 66 on the Old Course at St Andrews.
It was MacIntyre’s second success on home soil after he also won the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in 2024. The left-hander joined Colin Montgomerie as the only Scottish player to complete that double on the DP World Tour.

“As a Scotsman there is no better place to win than St Andrews,” admitted MacIntyre. “I can’t wait to go back as defending champion later this year to see if I can do it again.
“I’ve always loved to come to St Andrews. I’ve been coming here with the family for years, sometimes just to walk on the beach and to be in the town.
“The whole place is golf heaven and it makes it even more fun during the championship that so many of my family and friends are able to come to St Andrews to support me.”
As always, the $5 million event will attract a star-studded field at St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie on 1-4 October.
The tournament will once again provide support in the development of young amateur golfers in both Scotland and South Africa through the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation.
It also supports the University of St Andrews and the St Andrews Pilgrim Foundation, which refurbishes and preserves historical monuments in the town.
Admission is free for all spectators over the first three days of the event, with tickets for the final round available here.
