Tempted by The MoonWalk Scotland but haven’t done it until now? This is your last chance to join the fantastic fundraising walk, which will be held in Edinburgh for the final time this September.
After 19 amazing years, MoonWalkers will be taking to the streets of Edinburgh on Saturday 6th September for the last time, as cancer charity Walk the Walk takes this incredible event on tour.
This autumn will be the final time that the city’s skyline glows pink as buildings and landmarks across Edinburgh, are lit up throughout the night. And it promises to be a night to remember, with an epic send-off that will bring all of the best that The MoonWalk Scotland has to offer in one last hurrah!
If you haven’t joined it before, now is your chance to experience the unique party atmosphere, walking with hundreds of other women and men through Edinburgh at night-time. On Saturday 6th September, walkers wearing decorated bras and brightly coloured bra t-shirts will line up on the start line in Holyrood Park, ready to walk a full or a half marathon around the city.
Seasoned MoonWalkers know that it’s a weekend l like no other: At the start line, friends dance with excitement, strangers rub shoulders and share stories along the way, and everyone feels the electric thrill of coming together for a powerful cause. Cheers echo through the streets as sheer determination goes hand in hand and pure joy and energy crackles all around the city.
It’s a brilliant chance to boost your fitness, soak up the atmosphere and raise money for a great cause, while enjoying an incredible spectacle.

Step forward to mark this unique moment
Since the first edition in 2006, 86,000 walkers have walked nearly 2 million miles in total overnight around Edinburgh, raising more than £22 million to support people in Scotland with breast and other cancers.
One of those who will be walking side by side in tribute, joy and togetherness is Angela Mairs from Livingston. The 57-year-old, who is taking on the Full Moon (26.2 miles) for the second time, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year following a routine mammogram.
“I can’t wait to raise more money for Walk the Walk,” she says. “I was thrilled to find out that they’ve already contributed millions of pounds in grants to the Breast Unit at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. During my diagnosis and treatment, I’ve well and truly used all the services at the Western General which Walk the Walk has helped to fund – the mammography unit, operating theatre and breast cancer ward.”
I really enjoyed my first MoonWalk in 2019 and loved the wonderful atmosphere – there were even people out on the route supporting us at two o’clock in the morning! I feel so grateful, and after my own diagnosis, I want to take part in The MoonWalk again to give something back.

Fancy it, but can’t manage a whole marathon?
With a passion for prevention and support, Walk the Walk motivates everyone to move more, live well, and focus on better health.
This year, they’ve launched a little sister to the main Moonwalk in Edinburgh: The new 5K ZOOM, which means even more walkers can join the fun. For the very first time, families can step into something special at Holyrood Park, Edinburgh, on the morning of Saturday 6th September. This brand new 5km version invites everyone – young, old and everything in between – to lace up and join the fun, no matter what your fitness level.
It’s a fantastic, family-friendly fundraiser and the perfect warm-up for the iconic overnight The MoonWalk Scotland, which follows later the same day. Expect a specially designed 5K route winding through the park, complete with lively entertainment and plenty of support to keep you smiling every step of the way.
Every walker will go home with a stylish 5K ZOOM cap, a medal and well-earned refreshments at the finish line. Whether you sign up solo or rally your friends, family, colleagues, sports team or community group, it promises to be an unforgettable morning.
