A Scottish couple are helping people across Scotland discover the joys of a home sauna having fallen in love with the invigorating experience much used in the Nordic countries.
The ritual of using a sauna – which is an enclosed space in which to enjoy dry, or humid heat – has been a staple of the Nordic lifestyle for centuries.
Scottish Saunas is a family-run business based in Fife, founded and owned by Callum and Laura Anderson. What began as a passion for wellness and slower living has grown into one of Scotland’s leading sauna specialists, serving private homeowners, holiday lets, wellness spaces and commercial clients.
It brings together state-of-the-art sauna technology with the ages-old methods of exposing the body to hot – and cold – treatments, which many believe have a host of health and wellbeing benefits.

It all started with a shift towards a healthier lifestyle. Callum and Laura discovered the benefits of sauna use and quickly fell in love with the ritual, wondering why Scotland had never embraced this cultural pleasure in the same way as their cousins in other Nordic countries, after all we have shared history and heritage for centuries.
With the fast-growing interest in both mental and physical wellbeing through fresh air, cold water and natural therapies and remedies, but a lack of local suppliers they decided to ‘take the plunge’ and set up their own business. After extensive research Scottish Saunas in Fife was born in 2023.
Now it is helping redefine wellness at home by offering beautifully designed, high-quality indoor and outdoor saunas, cold plunges and accessories to customers across mainland Scotland. Inspired by Nordic sauna culture and built for the Scottish climate, the company makes heat and cold therapy accessible for everyday living.

A luxury to be enjoyed regularly
They both firmly believe that sauna bathing shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for spas or special occasions, but a regular ritual, and one which supports health, recovery and connection.
Because this is a family firm, Scottish Saunas’ team take a personal, hands-on approach to every project, ensuring each sauna is thoughtfully designed, carefully sited and built to last.

More than just a sauna showroom
There is a showroom in Glenrothes, but what sets Scottish Saunas apart is that they don’t just sell the products, but can help you identify and decide on the one which best suits your needs, home, lifestyle and budget.
The couple and their team support customers from first enquiry to final installation, offering guidance on sizing, layout, heaters, power requirements and site preparation.
You can either then order the sauna to fit yourself or, through their network of trusted traders and craftspeople, Scottish Saunas can handle the entire project from start to finish – all you need to do is have your towel ready for that first luxurious experience!
Scottish Saunas offers a wide range of sauna solutions to suit different spaces, lifestyles and budgets, including:

● Round Cube & Primo Saunas – contemporary designs with clean lines for modern outdoor spaces
● Patio Range – spacious, luxury garden saunas with premium finishes
● Viva Range - Clean designs and luxury feel

● Mobile Saunas – barrel saunas on trailers for events, retreats and flexible commercial use
● Cold Plunges & Accessories – designed to complement sauna use and enhance recovery
Feel the heat
Saunas can be heated by wood burning stoves, or using electricity, either method uses the energy to heat up sauna rocks – a humid heat is produced by pouring water on the rocks. They can reach temperatures of over 100°C.
Saunas are particularly popular in cold water areas – of which Scotland boasts an abundance with its rugged coastline and famous lochs – allowing users to alternate the hot climate of the sauna room with a cold plunge. But you don’t have to be next door to the sea, river or a loch – you can enjoy a hot sauna (inside or outside your home) on its own or add a plunge pool to give the option of hot and cold.
Regular sauna use is widely associated with improved circulation, cardiovascular health, muscle recovery, stress reduction and better sleep. Scottish Saunas champions sauna bathing not just as a product, but as a lifestyle choice, encouraging people to slow down, disconnect from daily pressures and prioritise wellbeing year-round.
By combining traditional sauna principles with modern design and practical expertise, Scottish Saunas helps customers create spaces that feel restorative, grounding and deeply personal.
