Glenalmond College: Independent education at boarding and day school invests in future and wellbeing of pupils

Glenalmond College, built on guiding young people to discover their talents and potential to flourish in the future, is broadening pupils’ horizons yet further with an exciting programme of growth and investment.
Glenalmond College, a co-educational boarding and day school in Perth, is looking ahead with confidence after taking important steps to secure and protect its proud heritage and to positively shape children’s lives, now and for generations to come.
With independent education in Scotland facing a period of significant change, Glenalmond is determined to chart a sustainable course for the future.
Set in a beautiful 300-acre countryside campus, the school has just completed an ambitious programme of development to further enrich pupils’ experiences and wellbeing.
High calibre improvements
Among the upgraded facilities are a new Sixth Form Centre, refurbished and modernised boarding house common rooms and the transformation of the theatre café.
The improvements are all part of a wider plan to ensure the college environment matches the calibre of the education on offer. Each project has been carefully designed to further enhance the existing infrastructure and to prioritise comfort, wellbeing and collaborative learning, all key components of a modern boarding experience.
Glenalmond College Warden and Glenalmond Group UK CEO Timothy Bayley believes the investment is central to the school’s direction.
He said: “We aim to create a school that is firmly rooted in its Scottish heritage yet fully prepared for the demands of the next generation. Investment in our campus is an investment in our young people, ensuring they have the space, resources and inspiration to thrive.”
With an eye firmly on the future, another priority at Glenalmond is to forge strong and inspiring partnerships that can bring fresh opportunities to all parties. One such alliance was recently formed with 35 Education, a London-based philanthropic education enterprise. Based on shared values and educational expertise, the connection has strengthened financial resilience and unlocked opportunities for innovation. It is also supporting the ability to build meaningful international links.
Mr Bayley said that, crucially, the partnership had ensured stability for families at a time when many in the sector were facing uncertainty.

Strong links
Closer to home, a solid link with Craigclowan Prep School, is also reaping rewards. The successful partnership has managed to maintain the distinctive identities of both schools while creating a coherent pathway from early years to 18. The arrangement strengthens continuity and supports families seeking a high-quality, values-driven educational journey from the start.
Beyond infrastructure, Glenalmond has also renewed its focus on academic excellence, co-curricular breadth and pupil wellbeing.
Mr Bayley added: “What matters most is that our pupils leave here confident, capable and grounded. The investments we are making, whether in facilities, pastoral care or academic development, are about ensuring every child has the opportunity to flourish.”
