Exceptional violinist Aylen Pritchin joins the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for a night of Prokofiev and Brahms

Devilish energy and captivating charm combine for an unforgettable evening with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra this December, featuring the exhilarating works of Prokofiev and Brahms.
From December 5-7, SCO Principal Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev and acclaimed violinist Aylen Pritchin reunite with the orchestra for a thrilling performance of Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No 2 in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto is both hauntingly lyrical and charged with fiery spirit—a perfect showcase for Pritchin’s extraordinary talent. Hailed as “the future of the violin” (ClassiqueHD), the Saint Petersburg-born virtuoso has graced prestigious stages worldwide. His close friendship and musical synergy with Emelyanychev previously wowed audiences at the five-star (The Times) Brahms Concerto in 2023.
Maxim bookends the concert with two contrasting symphonies. Prokofiev’s Symphony No 1, affectionately dubbed ‘Classical’, opens with a light-hearted nod to the wit and elegance of Haydn. Brahms’ Symphony No 2 closes the programme, immersing listeners in the composer’s sunlit melodies and rich harmonies.
Join the SCO, Emelyanychev and Pritchin at 7.30pm on 5-7 December, at The Usher Hall Edinburgh, City Halls Glasgow, and Music Hall Aberdeen.
The concert is kindly supported by Anne, Tom and Natalie Usher.
