Charismatic violinist leads Scottish Chamber Orchestra to new dimensions in this eclectic and bold concert

Book your seat in Edinburgh or Glasgow on 13 and 14 March for Parabola, a joyful and eclectic melting pot of musical ideas and a fitting conclusion to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s (SCO) New Dimensions series.
Pekka Kuusisto, longtime and beloved collaborator with the SCO, brings his signature charm and character in a variety of musical explorations.
Composed for Kuusisto by Thomas Adès in 2020, Märchentänze (‘Dances from Fairytale’) draws on English folk music through four dances while Haydn’s Symphony No 88 sees the Finnish musician travel back to the 18th century for music of pure charm and elegance.
Elsewhere, Simon Crawford-Phillips is soloist for the flamboyant Piano Concerto ‘The Blind Bannister’ by New York composer Timo Andres and Sally Beamish salutes Frankenstein creator Mary Shelley in the dream-inspired Whitescape.

Local DJ Dolphin Boy (aka Andy Levy) will be on the decks in the foyer providing entertainment at doors, during the interval and after the performance when the bars will stay open.
New Dimensions is a new series from the SCO, dedicated to stretching musical imaginations and exploring new sonic ideas.
Parabola starts at 7.30pm and takes place at the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh on 13 March, and City Halls, Glasgow on 14 March.
Pekka Kuusisto’s Visiting Artist Chair is kindly supported by The Honorary Consulate of Finland, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
