2026 Genesis Scottish Open: Players, ticket information and what’s on at this major event at the home of golf

Scotland’s own Bob MacIntyre will be hoping to secure a win in front of his home fans this summer – and you could be there to witness it this July.
In 2024 MacIntyre – fondly known as Bob Mac – last won the Genesis Scottish Open in 2024 in dramatic style, where a single shot secured victory on his home turf. Scotland is the birthplace of modern golf, and the upcoming 2026 Genesis Scottish Open will be the biggest event in the country.
With a prize fund of $900,000, the stage could not be bigger, nor the stakes higher, and Bob MacIntyre has already confirmed he’ll be back to Golf Country to try and reclaim his title.

The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open, once again co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, returns to the stunning Renaissance Club, on the East Lothian coast, taking place from July 8-12.
Alongside the golf fans can also enjoy a lively Fan Zone, boasting a host of great local food and drink, and a true festival atmosphere. For the first time ever there will be live music events on Friday night, as well as Saturday.
General admission tickets start from just £35, or fans can elevate their experience with Ticket + or opt for one of two Premium Experiences: Green on 18 and Thistle Club.
The Thistle Club, on the Thistle Hole, is new for this year. Formerly the Stadium Hole, it offers premium facilities including reserved parking and private restroom, terrace viewing approaching the 15th green, and a complementary bar serving soft drinks, teas and coffees all day with wine and beer between noon and 4pm.
Ticket holders can spend the day in comfortable surroundings and with plenty of options for breakfast and lunch from street-food style vendors.
The tournament is a 72-hole stroke play event. The field will play one round on each of the first two days, after which the leading 65 players (and those who tie for 65th place) will go forward to the third and fourth rounds. In the event of a tie for the first place there will be a hole-by-hole play-off.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre joins a line-up of the sport’s foremost players already confirmed. With international attention tracking every stroke, tickets to witness the contest are certain to be coveted, and will offer an experience that will live long in the memory.

Here’s all you need to know about the line up so far, and how you could be there, watching the professionals up close in action on the greens.

What makes this event so special?
With The Open taking place at Royal Birkdale in Southport this year, the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open will represent Scotland’s most significant professional golf event of the calendar. It will also provide the sole opportunity in 2026 to see these world-class players compete live and at close quarters on home soil.
As part of the season’s all-important Closing Swing, it is here that the world’s best players will battle for vital Race to Dubai Ranking points.
Confirmed players
Some big names in the golfing world have already confirmed attendance, and they’ll be out to impress on this stunning East Lothian course. They’ll all have something to prove and plenty of reasons to win, so let’s look at some of the key players who have already confirmed that they will tee off here in July.
· Robert MacIntyre – It would be a historic win on home soil for Bob Mac. He last won the event in 2024, when he made a 22-foot birdie putt on the 18th green to win by a single shot.
· Chris Gotterup – As the reigning champion, he will be out to defend his title. He shot a final round of 66 to hold off Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge, of England, to claim his first title on European soil last year.
· Rory McIlroy – As well as his success at Augusta National earlier in April, where he joined an elite club of back-to-back winners, McIlroy is also a past champion in this event. He beat MacIntyre in 2023, snatching victory from the Scottish home favourite by one stroke after making birdies on the final two holes.
Music festival after the games
The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open is more than just the golf with a Fan Zone adding to the entertainment. For the first time ever there will be music on Friday night too, not just Saturday. Tickets for either the Friday or Saturday include access to the live music performance that evening at the Fringe By the Tee pop-up tent.
Multi-platinum British rock band The Feeling will headline on Friday July 10, whilst Toploader, globally celebrated for favourites such as Dancing in the Moonlight, play on July 11.
The event is a collaboration between the Genesis Scottish Open and the Fringe by the Sea festival. Bringing live music to the heart of the Fan Zone, the stage adds an exciting dimension to Scotland's national open.
