They show people living the high life, quite literally, in the nation’s many tower blocks, from the 60s to the noughties.
Hulking apartment blocks are pictured rising from the ground, dwarfing the traditional tenements.
Many of these local landmarks are also pictured at the end of their lives, being brought crashing down in a cloud of dust as crowds gather to watch the controlled explosions.
This retro photo gallery shows life both inside and outside these high-rise apartments, giving a glimpse within the flats and the amazing views they boast.
Children are pictured playing in the shadow of these soaring edifices, while residents are seen proudly showing off their immaculate pads or struggling with problems ranging from leaky ceilings to a lack of water.
The more memorable images include those of an adorable new puppy, born the day a ban on dogs within council tower blocks was lifted; a comedy drama about high-rise living being filmed in a dilapidated Glasgow apartment block; and a daring tightrope walker attempting to cross between two iconic tower blocks 90 metres above ground.
