Legends on Cowgate, which for a while operated as Opium, was ‘a place where the alternative scene in Edinburgh could exist, grow and thrive.’ But earlier in the month staff at the rock bar were left ‘angry and heartbroken’ when it emerged the rock bar would close. “This is more than just a closure of a bar. It is a continuation of the total disregard of the alternative scene in Edinburgh and the loss of yet another live music venue,” they added. They had their last day on March 23. | IM
