I’m not usually a fan of 12-day advent calendars but this Sentier fragrance one won me over

Six perfumes, six scented candles and one surprise star made this 12-day Sentier calendar stand out

I’ve always been a bit sceptical about 12-day advent calendars. For me, advent should mean 24 days, or better still 25 if you’re lucky enough to get that extra Christmas Day treat. So I didn’t go into the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026 expecting much. But after opening every door, I can say it’s one of the few 12-day calendars that feels genuinely worth it.

At £109, with a stated value of £529, it includes six 10ml fragrances and six 60g scented candles, all packed into a beautifully illustrated keepsake box. I’d tried Sentier perfume before, so I already knew these scents were a little different from the kind you usually find on the high street. That made me interested to see what else was inside and a couple of the fragrances really stood out.

First impressions matter with an advent calendar, and this one scores well there. The artwork has a proper winter feel, and the mix inside is smart: six perfumes for you, and six candles to make the house smell good too.

The six fragrances are all 10ml, which is a sensible size if you want to discover something new. The clear winner for me was Ardent Cherry Extrait de Parfum. It blends black cherry, warm spices, incense, amber and sandalwood into something far richer than the name suggests.

There are five more fragrances to try: Parisian Embrace, Path of Lemons, Balade in Autumn, Noor Riviera and Méribel. The candle selection includes Ombre de Miel, Botanical Sanctuary, Alpine Chalet, Land of Dreams, Whispering Spell and Lait de Feu.

My main issue is also the most obvious one: there are only 12 doors. I know that’s the whole point of the calendar, but it still feels a bit odd being done with advent before Christmas is really in sight.

I would also have liked a full-size fragrance. Ardent Cherry was such a standout that having a larger bottle as the centrepiece would have made the set feel even more special.

That said, there is a clear trade-off here. For £109, against a stated £529 value, it makes sense that the calendar focuses on discovery sizes rather than a single full-size bottle. All in all, I went in doubtful because of the 12-day format, but the Sentier Fragrance Advent Calendar 2026 has changed my mind somewhat.

I still don’t think 12 days can replace the build-up of a traditional 24 or 25-day calendar. But there’s a difference between something that feels like a cut-down version of a bigger product and something that feels like a carefully put-together fragrance edit.
