New HP printer buyers could slash their ink costs for months, but they’ll need to move fast to unlock the full length of the limited-time offer.

If you’ve just splashed out on a new HP printer, don’t rush out to buy a pile of ink cartridges just yet.

New owners could get up to nine months of HP Instant Ink for free under a limited-time promotion — but there’s a sting in the tail. Miss a crucial seven-day deadline and you could lose the chance to claim the extra months.

The deal is aimed at customers who buy an eligible new HP printer and sign up for Instant Ink shortly after setting it up. The subscription service keeps tabs on ink levels and automatically sends replacement cartridges when they’re needed.

Rather than paying for individual cartridges, users choose a monthly printing plan based on how many pages they expect to print. And there’s an important twist: a page is a page, whether it contains a basic black-and-white letter or a colourful holiday snap.

The promotional code SUMMER26UKI can add three extra months to an Instant Ink trial already included with an eligible printer. So, for example, a printer offering a six-month trial could potentially come with nine months free.

But there’s no time to hang around. Customers must register for Instant Ink within seven days of setting up their printer to qualify for the extended trial.

The promotion is scheduled to run until 11.59pm on 31 October 2026, although simply buying a printer before that date isn’t enough. The registration deadline is the key.

With families getting ready for the new school year and students heading off to university, the offer could prove particularly handy for anyone expecting to print assignments, forms, notes and other documents.

However, there’s one final catch shoppers should know about. Instant Ink is a subscription service, not a permanently free supply of cartridges.

Once the promotional period ends, customers will be charged for their selected plan unless they cancel. Before signing up, it’s therefore worth checking your likely printing needs, the available plans and the cancellation terms.
