My two fussy dogs agreed on every treat in this £13 bundle

Rupert and Honey rarely agree when treats are involved, but every flavour in this varied six-bag bundle earned an enthusiastic response
Every few weeks, I make a trip to the pet shop to replenish the treat cupboard for my two dogs. I freely admit they're spoiled, but treats are useful for everything from training to persuading them back inside when they're barking at the neighbour's husky.
I have a cockapoo and a labradoodle, and both are fussy in their own particular ways. Rupert is rather partial to fruit and vegetables, while Honey is firmly in the meat camp. There are plenty of treats that one or the other will refuse, so I usually stick to the same reliable options whenever I go shopping.
However, I've now found a way to keep a permanent supply at home while ensuring there's always something in the cupboard that appeals to both of them.
Pet food subscriptions have become increasingly common, and one of the best-established names in the market is Forthglade. The British company says its mission is to nurture stronger relationships between dogs and their owners.
I've spent the past few days trying a selection of its training treats with my two, and they've been enthusiastic participants throughout the experiment.

The Forthglade website has a huge choice of flavours and options for different ages, breeds and sizes of dog. My Soft Bites Multifunctional Dog Treats Multipack includes everything from calming treats and fresh-breath bites to varieties intended to support joints and bones.
We've sampled every packet in the bundle and neither dog has rejected a single treat. In this house, that is genuinely unusual.
The treats arrive in 90g packets, with a one-off purchase of the six-bag bundle costing £14.70. For my two dogs, that should provide enough treats to last several weeks.
Choosing a subscription reduces the cost of each delivery and lets me decide how frequently the bundle arrives. Delivery is included and the price drops to just £13.23. There is also the small matter of saving me another walk to the pet shop.
It feels like an economical and convenient way to keep the dogs happy while making sure the cupboard never runs bare.
What I like about Forthglade dog treats
The first thing that stands out is the sheer amount of choice. There are numerous flavours, treats created for different purposes and options aimed at a wide variety of dogs.
It can seem slightly overwhelming when you first browse the range, but the benefit is that you can assemble a bundle that suits your dog and arrange for another one to arrive around the time supplies begin running low.
A subscription does more than lower the price. Members also join a rewards programme offering free gifts and credit towards future subscription costs. There is no pressure to continue indefinitely, and the delivery frequency can be changed easily.
Next-day delivery is included on orders costing more than £10. For smaller orders, it costs £1.99. The whole system is straightforward and well thought out.
Most importantly, Rupert and Honey would like it noted that the treats taste excellent. It is very rare for them to approve of every variety in a multipack, but each of these has gone down extremely well.

What I didn't like about Forthglade dog treats
Without the subscription saving, the sums become a little less attractive. Add delivery to a one-off order and six bags of dog treats could cost more than £16, which feels expensive even for natural, high-quality products.
A trip to a retailer such as B&M would probably secure six packets of dog treats for less than £10.
The subscription changes that calculation considerably, bringing the cost down to roughly £2 per bag. At that price, the bundle begins to look much more reasonable.
This means Forthglade makes more sense for stocking up than it does for ordering an occasional individual packet. Once you know which varieties your dogs enjoy, however, it becomes easy to return to the same reliable choices.

Should you order a Forthglade dog treat bundle?
Anyone concerned about nutrition, weight management, joint care and the other benefits associated with a healthy canine diet will understand the value of choosing good-quality treats. In that respect, Forthglade's quality is top notch.
The cost is not unreasonable, particularly when ordered through a subscription.
Once the offers and rewards begin accumulating, you may also be tempted to explore more of the range. Forthglade sells wet and dry dog food alongside its sizeable collection of treats.
Subscribers can also access a canine community offering expert advice and friendly discussion. It is an interesting service to explore and, based on our experience so far, a lovely brand to get to know.
