Woman bailed after daughter, 3, dies in pool

A WOMAN has been bailed while an investigation into the death of her three-year-old daughter in a hotel swimming pool continues.

Sarah Bell, who also uses her maiden name McKinnon, from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, was arrested on suspicion of murder and child neglect following the death of her daughter Jane in hospital on Thursday night.

Bell, 40, a supermarket worker, has returned home to Scotland with her husband and other daughter following the incident at the Dalmeny Hotel in St Anne’s Lancashire on Thursday.

Lancashire Police granted Bell bail after initial questioning. It has been reported that the girl was hauled from the bottom of the indoor pool at the hotel where the family was on a week-long holiday.

Bell has been bailed until 15 November.

Police and health and safety investigators are examining events leading up to the tragedy.
