Watch: Plane passengers gasp as huge fire takes hold at Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat
Plane passenger’s dramatic footage shows extent of fire
Fire crews have battled a huge fire in Holyrood Park overnight -- with senior officers confirming that they expect to have a presence in the area for the next “couple of days”.
It is understood that the fire broke out near Arthur’s Seat around 7pm on Sunday.
Police have warned that Queen’s Drive is set to remain closed as emergency services operate in the area.
One local resident who was travelling back to the city from France caught dramatic footage of the fire from the air as their plane was coming in to land at Edinburgh Airport.
He said he wasn’t shocked to see Salisbury Crags on fire again.
Michael McClarron said: “For me being a local I wasn't to shocked to see it on fire again! Few gasps on the plane as we have travelled home from France for a family wedding with a plane with a lot of French tourists on board.”
