Glasgow roads: Full list of 76 Glasgow streets to be exempt from pavement parking ban

Fines of up to £100 for vehicles parked on the pavement on most of Glasgow's streets were introduced in March this year.

Glasgow City Council has revealed that 76 streets will be granted exemptions from pavement parking restrictions.

The law was passed by MSPs after years of lobbying to prevent pedestrians, including those with disabilities and young children, from being forced into the road to get past parked vehicles.

Errant motorists are charged £100, which is halved if paid within 14 days, with income ringfenced for transport and environmental improvements.

The Glasgow streets set to be granted exemption have been identified in nine council wards within the city - Linn, Greater Pollok, Cardonald, Langside, Garscadden/Scotstounhill, Drumchapel/Anniesland, Baillieston, North-East and Partick East/Kelvindale.

A spokesman for the council said: "Pavement parking, double parking and parking at dropped kerbs create road safety hazards across Glasgow and put vulnerable pedestrians and wheelchair users in danger every day.  The new restrictions give our parking attendants the power to issue fines against vehicles that contravene these rules and we have been using that power across the city.

"An initial pavement parking assessment excluded a majority of city streets from an exemption on enforcement. A second round of assessment has found that a small minority of streets are now eligible for an exemption from the restrictions.

"Further work is needed in relation to these streets to ensure parking arrangements do not create issues with road safety, access or congestion. Detailed road layout designs will be developed and we expect to begin a formal consultation in early 2026 for the traffic regulation orders needed to make the streets legally exempt."
