Fort William crash: Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, killed in car crash

The families of the victims have been informed and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are appealing after two people, including a 16-year-old boy, died in a fatal crash near Fort William in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers were called to a report of a vehicle fire on the A830 at Corpach at around 3am on Saturday.

The fire was extinguished but the bodies of two people were discovered inside.

Police said formal identification has yet to take place, but the families of a 16-year-old boy and a 44-year-old man have been told.

Officers said the crash, which involved a blue Vauxhall Astra, was a single vehicle collision and happened at around 1.45am.

The road was closed to allow for a crash investigation to be carried out and fully reopened around 7pm on Sunday.

Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died in this crash.

“It’s vital we establish exactly what happened and I’m appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“If you were on the A830 in the early hours of Saturday morning and saw anything which may help, please come forward.

“I’d also appeal to drivers with dash-cam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything significant.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0389 of February 21.
