Musselburgh incident: East Lothian woman, 45, sexually assaulted in park while walking dog
The attack took place on Sunday evening in a field.
Police are searching for a man after a woman was sexually assaulted while walking her dog in East Lothian.
A 45-year-old woman was attacked in a field near Arrow Crescent, in the Pinkie area of Musselburgh, at around 8.40pm on Sunday.
The suspect is described as around 5ft 9in tall, of medium build, and in his mid-20s to early 30s. He was dressed in all dark clothing with his hood up.
Detective inspector Keith Sinclair said: “The woman was left understandably shaken by this incident and we are doing everything we can to trace the man responsible.
“We know this is a concerning incident for people living in the area and an increased police presence will remain.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing, including door to door and reviewing CCTV footage.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in that area around the time and who may have any information which could assist to contact us.
“The area is frequently used by dog walkers, and we would ask if anyone was there around the time to think back and get in touch if they saw anything. It may seem insignificant but could prove important to our enquiries.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting reference 3243 of March 1, 2026.
