SSPCA: Rabbit found abandoned in 'extremely poor' condition at popular Dalkeith dog walker spot
The charity is looking to speak to the owner.
The Scottish SPCA are working to trace the owner of a rabbit found abandoned at a popular dog walking spot.
A white, female lop-eared rabbit, affectionately named Bluebell by staff, was discovered by a member of the public on Sunday in a field behind the Newbattle Medical Practice in the Mayfield area of Dalkeith.
They called the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline and an inspector arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, the inspector found that the rabbit was left with nothing more than a cardboard box. The box was dry which indicated the rabbit was found soon after being abandoned.

The inspector also noted that the rabbit appeared to be in “extremely poor” body condition.
The rabbit was taken to the Scottish SPCA Edinburgh Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno where it is understood she is being cared for by staff.
