The proposed aircraft for coming week’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo flypasts - dates and time details

There will be two Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo flypasts this coming week, followed by a further two the week after.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has confirmed the proposed aircraft for the remaining four flypasts during the next two weeks.

On Saturday (15 August), a C-17 Globemaster and two Typhoon jets performed the first flypast of the 2026 Tattoo, replacing the Red Arrows after their return from the United States was delayed by poor weather.

Wing Commander Sasha Nash, Officer Commanding RAF Aerobatic Team, said: “We are very sorry the Red Arrows cannot participate at these events and we are grateful to organisers and communities for their understanding.

“Every effort is being made to ensure the Red Arrows can recommence the busy display season as soon as possible. However, safety is the only factor that will determine the timing of the team’s return from Canada.”

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo - held on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade - is running until Saturday 29 August.

Acts for the 2026 show - A Call to Gather - include The German Army Band Koblenz, New Zealand Army Band, the Qatar Police Academy Band and Drill Team, and the United States Army Field Band.

They are joined by military bands, with Royal Air Force Musicians taking centre stage as part of this year’s Lead Service, alongside fan favourites such as the Massed Pipes and Drums, Lone Piper and the Tattoo Performers showcasing the best of Scottish Traditional Arts.
