Since the postition of President of the United States of America was established in 1789 just 45 men have held the title.
Of those - perhaps surprisingly - only four have made an official visit to Scotland during their presidency.
But many more have visited in a personal capacity, often due to their family links to the country - and even more often due to the quality of golf course Scotland offers.
Ahead of an official state visit later this year, President Trump will be arriving in Scotland on Friday (July 25) for five days to visit both his golf courses - as well as meeting with both Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and First Minister John Swinney.
Here are all the Presidents to have visited Scotland before him - and what they were doing here.

9. Jimmy Carter (President from 1977-1981)
Jimmy Carter may not have come to Scotland during his presidency, but he became a semi-regular visitor after leaving office. He was a particular fan of Loch Lomond, where a suite at the Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel, in the village of Luss, is named in his honour. He also enjoyed visting Edinburgh for the festivals and, in 1995, took to the stage at St Giles Cathedral to introduce an act at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival. | Getty Images

10. Ronald Reagan (President from 1981-1989)
Ronald Reagan's single visit to Scotland was a super-secret affair in 1991. Joined by wife Nancy, he was in Paisley to visit Castlehead Kirk where his great-grandmother Peggy Downie was married in 1807. They were invited by minister Gordon Kirkwood and attended a Sunday service at the church. | Getty Images

11. George H. W. Bush (President from 1989-1993)
George H. W. Bush was famously a huge golfer, as were his family - his father was president of the United States Golf Association. Bush made several visits to Scotland to play golf on a number of famous courses - including Troon, Carnoustie and St Andrews. He was also in St Andrews for the 1995 Open Championship (pictured), watching American John Daly take the title. | Getty Images

12. Bill Clinton (President from 1993-2001)
Another keen golfer, Bill Clinton played rounds at Loch Lomond (pictured) and Turnberry in 2001 before speaking at a charity function in Glasgow. He was back in Glasgow in 2006 to speak at a business leadership lunch and stayed in Edinburgh - again on a golf trip - in 2016. | Getty Images
