Scots Labour MP reported for 'drunken incident' at Faslane

The Times reported that Joani Reid left the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) last year after she was “carried away” during a visit to Faslane.
A Scottish Labour MP whose husband was arrested on suspicion of spying for China has allegedly been involved in incidents of inappropriate behaviour with two senior naval officers working on the UK’s nuclear deterrent, according to reports.
The Times reported that Joani Reid left the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) last year after she was “carried away” during a visit to Faslane.
She has been accused of behaving inappropriately with a senior naval officer during drinks at the officers’ mess. The incident reportedly led to her leaving the scheme.

The East Kilbride and Strathaven MP was also reported to the parliamentary authorities by an MP who was also on the visit.
It comes after her husband, David Taylor, was arrested on suspicion of spying for China, which he denies.
A captain of a royal navy nuclear-armed submarine has also stood back from his current duties due to his alleged relationship with Ms Reid, the Financial Times has reported.
The navy opened an investigation into the claims that the married man and Ms Reid had an inappropriate relationship.
The publication reported that the investigation found that the captain and Ms Reid had exchanged flirtatious messages. Action was reportedly taken to mitigate the risk of blackmail.
The captain was found not to have broken any rules and was not disciplined but stepped back for “personal reasons”. He is still in the navy.
Ms Reid resigned the Labour whip after her husband was arrested in March.
She was elected as Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven in 2024.
Ms Reid said she had never seen anything to make her suspect her husband had “broken any law”.
SNP MP Kirsty Blackman called on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to launch an investigation into the Scottish Labour Party.
SNP leader John Swinney said: "I certainly don't think this is appropriate behaviour for an MP and I think she should think very carefully about her position."
