Nicola Sturgeon 'pulls out of Edinburgh book event' after pressure over Peter Murrell embezzlement
Nicola Sturgeon had been due to host a book event in Edinburgh but her name has been dropped from promotion materials
Nicola Sturgeon’s details have been removed from promotional materials for an Edinburgh book event in the wake of the Peter Murrell scandal.
Ms Sturgeon was expected to interview author Kirsty Lockwood next week about her debut novel We Know What You Did.
However, the former First Minister’s name and photograph have been removed from the event host’s website.
It comes after she fled from press questions at a book event in Ireland on Thursday, where she was in conversation with author Andrew O’Hagan.
Ms Sturgeon took refuge in a kitchen after being pursued by a journalist asking what she knew about her former husband’s actions.
Murrell pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday to embezzling £400,000 from SNP funds over 12 years.
The book event, at Topping & Company, was previously styled: Kirsty Lockwood in conversation with Nicola Sturgeon for We Know What You Did.
However, the publisher’s website now simply reads: Kirsty Lockwood for We Know What You Did.
Ms Lockwood is the niece of Tricia Marwick, former SNP MSP and presiding officer of the Scottish parliament from 2011 to 2016.

Ms Lockwood, a former political commentator and columnist known as Kirsty Strickland, is shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland crime writing prize.
Her debut novel is published on June 4.
