Police watchdog launches investigation into death of Vikki Soloman after 'police contact' before her murder

Vikki Soloman was found dead at her home in East Craigs following a brutal attack on Monday, July 20.

A police watchdog has launched an investigation into the murder of Edinburgh mum-of-two Vikki Soloman after she was found to have contacted police prior to her death.

Ms Soloman, 44, was found dead at her home on Craigievar Square in the East Craigs area of the city at around 8.45pm on Monday, July 20.

Her former partner, Lee Greenan, 46, was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with her murder.

However, Greenan died in his cell at HMP Edinburgh on Sunday, July 26, days after he first appeared at court to face charges of murder, assault to injury and assault. Police said there were “no suspicious circumstances” relating to his death.

Now, the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) has confirmed that it has launched an investigation of its own into the case after reports that Ms Soloman had ”police contact” before her murder.

A spokesperson from the PIRC said: “We are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of a woman, aged 44, in Edinburgh on 20 July 2026 following police contact.

“A report will be submitted to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in due course.”
