Thousands raised to give Bathgate woman Taylor Jenkins 'the goodbye she deserves' after tragic crash death

A young woman who died in a horror crash is set to ‘get the goodbye she deserves’ with a fundraiser set up in her memory having raised almost £8,000.

Taylor Jenkins was just 24 years old when she lost her life in the head-on crash on March 1, after the white BMW M135 she was travelling in as a passenger was driven the wrong way down the A19 in Sunderland.

The BMW was involved in a police chase when it collided with a grey Volkswagen Sharan at around 3am. Taylor, from Bathgate, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taylor’s death sparked an outpouring of love and tributes from friends and family who described her as a ‘beautiful soul’ who was ‘always thinking of others’.

Paying tribute to the keen horse rider, who also ran her own business Made By Taylor Aesthetics, her family said: “Taylor was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can ever express. Her kindness, laughter, and beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and her memory will live on in all of us.

“During this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy and compassion as we grieve. We are grateful for the overwhelming support and kindness shown to our family.”

A fundraiser set up by Taylor’s best friend Shaunie Clark in the days after her death has raised almost £8,000, which will go to her family to help give Taylor ‘the most beautiful and dignified farewell’.

Shaunie said: “Our hearts were shattered when our beautiful Taylor was tragically taken from us at just 24 years old.

“A young woman with her whole life ahead of her, Taylor was light, laughter and unconditional love. She had the kindest soul, the brightest smile, and an energy that filled every room she walked into.

“She was a devoted daughter, sister, partner, friend and colleague - and to know her was to love her.

“Her loss has left an indescribable emptiness in all of our lives. As her family and loved ones try to process this unimaginable tragedy, we are determined to give Taylor the most beautiful and dignified farewell - one that truly reflects the love she gave so freely to others. To make this possible, we are asking for your help.

“We are raising funds to support her family with funeral costs and related expenses during this devastating time. Every single penny raised will go directly to her family, easing the financial burden and allowing them to focus on grieving and honouring Taylor’s life.

“If Taylor ever touched your heart, made you smile, or was part of your life in any way, we kindly ask you to consider donating - no matter how small. Every contribution brings us closer to giving her the goodbye she deserves.”

Taylor’s loved ones are set to say their final goodbye to her at Livingston Crematorium on March 19, with those attending having been asked to ‘get their glam on and dress smart’ in her honour.

A special fundraising day is also being held at the Beau Vous Skin & Aesthetics salon in Gorgie Road, Edinburgh, today (March 14) giving people who knew Taylor the chance to ‘come together as a community to remember Taylor and celebrate the light she brought to so many people’.

The event is running at the salon, where Taylor trained and worked, from 11.30am. A DJ will play Taylor’s favourite songs while guests receive discounted beauty treatments, with pink balloons set to be released at the end of the day.

All money raised on the day will also be donated to Taylor’s family.
