Skye Newman wins BBC Radio 1's Sound of 2026 – here's how you can see her live in Scotland
BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2026 winner Skye Newman is already set to play Glasgow twice this year.
Skye Newman has won BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2026, which predicts the year’s next big artist.
The annual list has become a well regarded indicator of future success, and is voted for by more than 170 industry experts, from critics and bookers, to DJs and artists including Elton John, Dua Lipa, Jade, Olivia Dean, Yungblud, and Sam Smith, who is a previous winner.
The London born singer-songwriter topped the list ahead of acts such as Geese, Royel Otis and sombr.
The coveted title has been won by acts such as Chappell Roan and The Last Dinner Party in 2025 and 2024 respectively, with winners over the years also including Adele, who Newman has often been compared to.
It follows a breakthrough year for Newman, who released her debut album SE9 Part 1 and climbed the charts with emotion packed singles Hairdresser and Family Matters.
The 22-year-old counts stars including Ed Sheeran, Sir Elton John and Lewis Capaldi, who she supported during his comeback arena tour, among her supporters.
Newman will soon headline Glasgow’s O2 Academy in April, with another performance set for TRNSMT Festival in June.

Here’s when Skye Newman will play Glasgow in 2026
After opening for Lewis Capaldi in Glasgow and Aberdeen in 2025, Newman will soon head on tour around the UK with her first headline tour.
This includes a sold out show at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on Friday, April 17 - her biggest solo Scottish show to date.
However, if you missed out on getting tickets and would like to see Skye Newman in Scotland this year, she will also play TRNSMT.
She will make her debut appearance at the Glasgow festival on Sunday, June 21. Other acts also on the line-up that day include Lewis Capaldi, Amy MacDonald, CMAT, Two Door Cinema Club and more.

Skye Newman was in good company among the nominees for Radio 1’s Sound of 2026, with rapper Jim Legxacy coming in second and indie pop singer sombr in third.
