Greg James is taking on the final leg of his 1,000km challenge for Comic Relief. Here's his route for the day, how to track him live, and where you can watch the official livestream of his journey from Galashiels to Edinburgh.

Greg James has officially completed Radio 1’s Longest Ride for Red Nose Day.

After eight days, the Breakfast Show host brought his 1,000km (621 miles) tandem bike ride to a close raising more than £4 million for Comic Relief.

He set off on the collosal journey from Weymouth last Friday (March 13) with the finish line set for Edinburgh, today (March 20).

Radio 1 presenter being cheered on in Scotland

Helping cheer him on further have been dozens of voice notes from listeners across the country, as well as his mum. While chatting on the radio, James also gave an update on his father who has been in the hospital for the last few weeks after suffering a stroke.

He said: “I've been chatting to my mum loads. I haven't talked to my dad for a while because he hasn't been able to speak, to tell the truth, which is a weird thing to say out loud.

“I actually received a video yesterday that one of the nurses took of my dad sitting up - for those who don't know, he's recovering from a stroke. He's sitting up in a chair, and his legs are going round on a little pedal thing, and he's trying to make some wisecracks about cycling being easy!

“Which really made my evening yesterday, he's sitting there catching his breath and trying to deliver a funny line, and that is my dad, always trying to deliver a bad dad joke - I wonder where I get it from, huh?

“His legs are moving, which is great! So he's getting some feeling back in the left side of his body.”

With Greg James now in Scotland and making his way towards the Edinburgh finish line, here is where he is now, how you can track him live, where to watch the Radio 1 livestream and more.

What is Greg James’ tandem bike called?

After consulting listeners of his Breakfast Show, Greg James officially named his tandem bike “Tando Norris”, inspired by Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris.

Norris even recorded a special message for James, joking that he’d “set the challenge bar pretty high”.

He said: “Over three times the race distance of a Silverstone Grand Prix race. Unbelievable. I’m just sending you all my very best. Thanks for everything.”

Who has joined him on the bike?

Over the challenge so far, James has been joined on the tandem by his cousin Will, comedian and YouTuber Max Fosh and his cricket podcast co-host Felix White.

Other special guests include comedian Joe Lycett, Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas and even Prince William.

James was also joined by fellow Radio 1 presenter Arielle Free during Day 6 of the challenge, who he said was the most in-sync with him so far aside from Thomas.

With James taking on his hardest day so far, last year’s Radio 1 challenger Jamie Laing - who took on a 150+ mile ultra marathon - will be helping him along on the back of the tandem.

And with James having run alongside Laing wearing a wedding dress during his challenge last year, Laing owes him a forfeit of his own: wearing lingerie on the tandem bike.
