Calls to use schoolboys' viral Last Christmas doorbell video as festive ad

The video of the boys’ breaking into song has had more than 1.4 million views

A householder in Denny feared the worst when a group of youngsters showed up on her Ring doorbell, ominously gathering together in her driveway.

Mother-of-two Erin Chalmers was at her work when she got a message from her husband – who was out at the football with their children – saying she had to watch new footage captured by their Ring doorbell after the motion sensor was triggered by some “activity” in their driveway.

What Erin saw must have initially sent shivers down her spine as she expected some form of vandalism was about to befall her home after seeing a group of youngsters right outside the property with no reason to be there.

However, instead of pelting windows, the young boys – Denny Primary School pupils Cameron Bourne and Jack Campbell, Nethermains Primary School’s Ollie Shearer and Dylan Thomson and St Modan’s High School student Liam McPhillips – belted out Wham’s number one festive banger Last Christmas.

The boys, who are all 11 except for 10-year-old Dylan, are now known collectively as the Denny Five after their heartfelt outdoor concert.

An impressed Erin posted the footage on TikTok, where it quickly became a worldwide sensation, viewed over 1.4 million times.

Now there are calls for Ring to use the video as their official Christmas advert and give John Lewis a run for its money.

The boys’ parents were said to be filled with pride over their children’s musical exploits and some of the young superstars are set to appear on television’s Lorraine programme on Wednesday morning.
