Why the Six Nations is the best rugby tournament in the world
It could hardly be more dramatic as Scotland, France and Ireland vie to be crowned Six Nations’ champions
Is there a more exciting rugby tournament than the Six Nations? We think not. For those who haven’t been paying attention, today will see three teams, Scotland, France and Ireland, battle to win the title.
The smart money had been on France cantering to a Grand Slam – until that famous game at Murrayfield last Saturday in which the Scots emerged victorious by the remarkable (one gobsmacked pundit described it as “fictional”) score of 50-40.

But Scotland are probably still underdogs against Ireland, a team they have not beaten since 2017. However, overcome them, and all eyes will then turn to Paris where we’ll need a favour from England.
The idea of thousands of Scots cheering on the English might seem unlikely to some. But with our first-ever Six Nations title on the line, that’s what will happen if events in Dublin go our way. A few might even sing along to “Swing low...”
It’s all very different to the mood after that disastrous opening-day defeat to Italy. Rugby, we love it! Good luck to Gregor Townsend and the boys.
