Kayden Moy: Father's emotional tribute as three sentenced for son's murder
The family of Kayden Moy said he was ‘loved beyond measure’
The father of Kayden Moy, who was murdered on a beach in North Ayrshire last year, has said that “no family should have to endure the pain that we now live with every day”.
Paul Moy spoke shortly after three teenagers were sentenced for Kayden’s murder.
Speaking outside the High Court in Glasgow, Mr Moy said his son “had his whole life ahead of him”.
He said: “Every birthday, every family gathering, every milestone from now on will be a reminder that he should be here with us. That is the life sentence our family has been given. The choices made that day have devastated our family forever.”
He continued: “We hope today’s sentence sends a clear message that violence has devastating and irreversible consequences. One moment of violence has destroyed so many lives, and no family should ever have to endure the pain that we now live with every day.”

He thanked police and prosecutors, along with everyone who had stood with him family.
Mr Moy said: “Most importantly, we want want people to remember Kayden not for how he died, but for how he lived.
“He will always be our son. He will always be loved. He will always be missed.
“His name will never be forgotten, and we will continue to speak for him the rest of our lives.”

Three teenagers have been sentenced for the murder of 16-year-old Kayden Moy, who was fatally stabbed on a North Ayrshire beach last year.
Jay Stewart, 19; Cole Turley, 18; and a 15-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, acted together to carry out the attack at Irvine beach on May 17.
Turley admitted the killing, while Stewart and the 15-year-old were found guilty of murder last monthT following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
Sentencing the three at the same court on Tuesday, judge Lord Scott told them they had gone to the beach that day with the intention of carrying out an attack.
He told them: “Two of you took weapons including, in the case of Cole Turley, the knife with which Kayden Moy was stabbed.”
He added: “You didn’t care whether Kayden lived or died.”
The judge sentenced both Stewart and Turley to a minimum of 16 years in detention, and the 15-year-old to a minimum of 14 years.
Lord Scott also referred to a victim impact statement from Kayden’s family, in which they said they are “devastated beyond words” by his death.
The statement went on: “He was loved beyond measure, and he will be missed for the rest of our lives.”
