End of an era as Terminal V organisers announce last Edinburgh festival and plans for new location

It’s the end of an era for Edinburgh’s Terminal V festival after organisers announced that the event in April will be their last in the Scottish capital.

One of the UK’s largest electronic music festivals, Terminal V launched in 2017, and over the last decade has welcomed more than a quarter of a million fans to the Royal Highland Centre, hosting leading names across techno and house genres.

But in what organisers called ‘one of the hardest decisions to date’, it has been announced that the upcoming Terminal V festival in April will be the last in Edinburgh. Festival bosses said ‘evolving operational requirements’ and high delivery costs were among the reasons for the change.

Organisers are expected to announce a new festival site location for 2027 in due course, with further plans for a global tour of international shows to celebrate a decade of Terminal V.

Derek Martin, Terminal V co-founder, said: “This is a significant moment for us. Edinburgh has been home to Terminal V since the beginning, and some of our biggest moments have happened here.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built in Edinburgh, the festival city, over the past nine years, and grateful to The Royal Highland Centre and all of our partners who have supported the brand’s growth during this time.”

Simon McGrath, fellow co-founder, added: “To deliver the level of event we’ve produced over the last nine years is becoming increasingly challenging in the current environment. We’re not prepared to compromise on quality.

“Making this move will now allow us to take the festival further and deliver even more ambitious electronic music experiences in the years ahead. While April 2026 will be the last edition in Edinburgh, we have some exciting plans ahead for the growth of Terminal V this year and beyond.”

This year’s two-day festival at The Royal Highland Centre will take place on April 18 and 19, featuring six ‘reimagined’ stages and a massive line-up of more than 100 artists, including 99999999, Anetha, Ben Hemsley,Luciid, Tommy Holohan and DJ Gigola.

The last remaining tickets for the Terminal V will go on sale at 12pm on Tuesday March 3. For more details and to book tickets you can visit the Terminal V website.
