Watch as smoke billows from Edinburgh flat as firefighters tackle blaze at property on Whitson Road
Whitson Road and the surrounding routes have been closed to traffic due to the incident.
Smoke has been seen billowing from the windows of an Edinburgh property following a huge fire earlier today (May 4).
Emergency services including firefighters, ambulance crews and police officers were called to the scene of the blaze at a flat on Whitson Road at around 10.45am.
The situation is ongoing with emergency services still in attendance.
Whitson Road and surrounding streets are currently closed to traffic as a result of the fire and emergency response.
The public have been urged to avoid the area while crews tackle the fire.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We are currently in attendance at a fire affecting a block of flats on Whitson Road, Edinburgh.
“Three fire appliances and a number of addition resources are in attendance. Road closures are currently in place and people are being advised to avoid the area at this time.”
