Edinburgh's Cowgate taped off by police as ongoing incident sparks major emergency response

Emergency services descended on an Edinburgh city centre street following reports of ‘concern for a person’.

Cowgate was taped off by police at the junction with Blair Street and officers were seen standing guard at the cordon.

A witness told the Evening News: “There is a police riot van on the road and officers everywhere. They’ve got shields and things and the road is closed. It’s a big incident.”
